2025 Symposium

Join us for the first NTL LTER Symposium! It will be a day of new science, old friends, and fun. There will be a mix of talk and poster sessions and lots of time for catching up with colleagues and enjoying some good food.

Schedule & Abstracts

When: Friday, January 31, 9 AM – 3 PM*
*8:30 AM Breakfast, poster set up
*4:00 PM Reception at CFL

Where: Sewell Social Sciences, Room 8417
Finding the Room

Who: All LTER scientists, staff, and affiliates are welcome! Undergraduate researchers supported by NTL LTER may also receive an invitation. Reach out to Grace Wilkinson with questions.

FORMAT

Posters: Anyone is welcome to present a poster on NTL-related science, outreach, education, or other work. Some funds will be available for poster printing.

Storyboards: In lieu of a formal scientific poster, presenters will be given the same size space to display a storyboard with a conceptual figure that conveys your question/goals, and the supporting figures. These can all be printed off on 8.5×11″ paper and tacked up. The purpose is to stimulate conversation during the poster session by walking viewers through the story board. This is a great option for works in progress!

Talks: All talk slots will be 15 minutes; 12 minutes to present and 3 minutes for questions

  • Session I: Theme Team Science
The theme teams will invite one person to present on a single new project/result. These are not intended to be overview talks.
  • Session II: Synthesis & New Directions
In NTL we like to say “the sum is greater than our parts”. In this session we want to hear about projects synthesizing across research areas and new ideas, directions, or intriguing results that we should consider for the renewal.
  • Session III: Emerging Topics
It’s been five years since the last proposal was submitted. In this session we want to hear about new ideas, emerging results, or from newer people to the NTL community.
