We are glad that Stauffer [this issue] finds the approach used in our two papers [Krabbenhoft et al., l990a, b] (hereinafter referred to as papers I and 2) ingenious. Stauffer’s comments fall into two categories. He raises a number of issues related to fundamental principles and he questions our interpretation of some of the field data. We address Stauffer’s concerns in the order he presented them.
