Installation of Z3

This document describes how to install Z3 on your desktop PC.

Install Z3
Each user who wants to use Z3 on a computer must install it for themselves.
To install the latest version of Z3, do the following:

  1. If you are the first user to install Z3 on your PC, the prerequisites are probably not installed. Log on as a local administrator and continue.
  2. If you use Firefox or another browser, open Internet Explorer and tell it to be the default browser. You can change it back after installing Z3.
  3. Go to this page and click Install.
  4. Change your default browser back to your preferred browser, if necessary.
  5. Run Z3 from Start > Programs > UW Center for Limnology > Z3.

Updates to Z3
Z3 will automatically update itself when you run it. A dialog box will appear asking you to install or skip the update. You should always click OK to update. You can find out exactly what version of Z3 you are running under Help > About.

Alternative Links
If you have problems, you can manually install the prerequisites using these links. This should not be necessary, as long as you completed the steps above while logged in as a local administrator. Note that you still have to be a local administrator to install these manually.
