This document explains how to format files for use with the Species Import feature.
Files used for the Import Species command should be CSV files with the following considerations:
- The first line must consist of Column Headers. Each column that corresponds to a field in the database should have a column header in the form: LEVEL.FIELD.
- Column headers for the Sample Schema:
Genus.Name,Species.Name,Species.Code,SpeciesSexStage.Name,SpeciesSexStage.Code
- Any columns that don't correspond with database fields should have just a period in the column header.
Current limitations:
- You may need to include all fields at all levels even without data.
- It is not possible to import hotkeys with your species list. Hotkeys are easily assigned while using Z3. Montz and Strommen have decided not to import Hotkeys with a species list, but rather to assign them within the counting application. Thus, hotkeys placed in your species CSV file will not be active in Z3.
