Summary of Past NTL-SLTER Activities

  • Enrichment activities for elementary, middle, and high school students that include field trips, classroom visits, and residential academic summer camps
  • Professional development opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school teachers that include field trips, 1-2 day workshops, and 3-week summer courses
  • Development, pilot-testing, field-testing, and dissemination of instructional materials for elementary, middle, and high school students that integrate NTL-LTER and other LTER research and data
  • Development, pilot-testing, field-testing, and dissemination of professional development resources for elementary, middle, and high school teachers that integrate NTL-LTER and other LTER research and data
  • Publication of NTL-LTER research and profiles of scientists in local news sources
  • Development of proposals to fund expansion of NTL-SLTER activities
  • Development of education components as part of the broader impacts of NSF research proposals
  • Participation of NTL-LTER scientists and staff in LTER multi-site education activities (e.g. standing and ad hoc committees, development of multi-site workshops & proposals)
  • Participation of NTL-LTER scientists and staff in collaborative projects that leverage NTL-SLTER funding (e.g. NSF Math and Science Partnerships)
